Please join us Saturday, April 28, 2012, for the Ashlie Duit Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Organ Donation Awareness at the S.C.O.R.E. Recreation Facility in Neveda, Iowa.
The Ashlie Duit Memorial 5K Run and Walk for Organ Donation Awareness is a memorial run for Ashlie Duit, a 21 year old woman who tragically died due to complications of hemodialysis while waiting for a kidney transplant. Ashlie was a daughter, a sister and a friend to many. She was deeply loved and is greatly missed. Her transplant, from a living donor, was schedule to take place less than one month after her death. The miracle she was waiting for came too late. Right now, the national organ transplant waiting list includes more than 108,000 men, women, and children. Each day in the U.S. 18 people die before the organ they need becomes available. Ashlie’s greatest desire was to decrease the number of people who die waiting. Her family and friends wish to continue her mission by raising awareness of the need for organ and tissue donors.
Please join Ashlie’s family and friends in support of organ donation awareness and help reduce the wait for the thousands of people whose lives hang in the balance.
