Dear Friends, Family, and Righteous Supporters,
This November, the nonprofit Office of Letters and Light will be bringing together the most mighty of endurance novelists for an event that will define our generation forever.
I'm speaking, of course, of National Novel Writing Month. It's a global writing challenge in which participants spend November (and portions of our sanity!) writing a 50,000-word book in just 30 days.
I will be among the participating authors this year. In addition to my writerly duties, I'm raising money to help the Office of Letters and Light continue to put on free creative writing programs for kids and adults in classrooms, communities, and libraries around the world.
I believe that National Novel Writing Month serves an incredibly valuable purpose for both writers and people who had previously thought of themselves as non-writers. It gets us writing. It breaks down the task of writing a novel, a seemingly impossible feat, into a crazy fun community enterprise that takes a lot of the stress out of writing.
But NaNoWriMo is a nonprofit, and they can't run without donations. If you can give any amount, please sponsor me and my writing. Don't worry, you get something out of this too:
$5 - minor role in the novel (you, or a person of your choice) $10 - significant supporting role (you, or a person of your choice) $15 - reading rights for the novel, as of December 31st (to give me time to edit - alternatively, reading rights to a previous NaNoWriMo novel)
Other prizes can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Even better, if I fail to complete the challenge for any reason (barring death in the family or severe injury involving the loss of one or both hands), I will personally repay your donation.
Thank you so much for your support of my writing!
