My Write-a-Thon Goal: To say a bunch of mean things about hockey players and teams you might like and have you donate money to a worthy cause for my having done so.
My Fundraising Goal: I already passed $500 so then I was like "OKAY! Let's make it $1,000," and then I passed that in about 12 hours. So I guess maybe the new goal is $100 a day through the end of the Write-A-Thon? I feel like that's attainable. What do you say, gang?
I'm participating in a Write-A-Thon to help 826 Boston raise much needed funds for its free youth writing programs. A Write-a-thon is much like a walk-a-thon or a hot dog eating contest, except that I will be spending my days and nights writing, all for a very good cause.
Located in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood, 826 Boston provides one-on-one tutoring and writing support to over 2,000 underserved Boston Public School students each year. Since opening its doors in October 2007, 826 Boston has provided over 50,000 hours of tutoring to local students and published their writing in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and in a variety of original publications such as 2% of 2% of All the World's Stories, a book of bedtime stories crafted by the organization's after-school students. "The effects of this program are far reaching," stated parent Leah Arteaga. "826 Boston gives opportunities to kids that otherwise might not be successful in their academic endeavors."
Please help me reach my fundraising goal and help 826 Boston meet its goal of raising over $18,000 by October 11th. Just click "Sponsor Me" to make a donation.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
