This year, the Section on Child Maltreatment is hosting a fundraiser for the Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, Boost, located in Toronto, to acknowledge the work of Boost in preventing and intervening with child abuse and neglect. We would like to raise as much as possible during the next two months in anticipation of the upcoming APA Convention in Toronto in August, where we will present our total gift to Boost at the Section reception. Every donation counts and is tax deductible. Please help us achieve our goal of $2500.
Boost is committed to eliminating abuse and violence in the lives of children, youth, and families. The Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) was first established in 1981 by Paul Godfrey (then Chairman of Metropolitan Toronto), as The Metropolitan Toronto Chairman’s Special Committee on Child Sexual Abuse. Subsequently, it became an organization under the name, The Special Committee on Child Abuse. In 1997, the Special Committee was renamed Toronto Child Abuse Centre and expanded its mandate to address all forms of child abuse. Ten years later, the agency was renamed Boost Child Abuse Prevention & Intervention. Boost is a non-profit, community-based organization that provides programs and services for children, youth and their families after abuse or violence has occurred. Boost also provides prevention programming and training for parents, professionals, post-secondary students and the community. In 2013, Boost opened Toronto’s first CYAC, in collaboration with several community partners. In 2015, the agency was renamed Boost Child & Youth Advocacy Centre.
Help us support Boost! We are passionate about supporting their work, and have created our own fundraising page to collect donations in support of their efforts. Please help us reach our fundraising goals. Just click "Sponsor Us" to make a donation.
