The Monroe Community College Foundation, in partnership with the Campus Activities Board, has planned a variety of events for MCC alumni, students, family and friends. The 5K Walk/Run for Scholarships and the YellowJacket Headline Performance are open to the general public.  All events will be held at the Brighton Campus unless otherwise indicated.

Alumni Art Exhibit

Location:  Reflections Restaurant and The Forum, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Building 3
Tickets:  Free of charge
Parking:  Visitors Lot or metered spaces

Throughout the month of September, an alumni art exhibit will feature a broad range of creative work by MCC alumnus Peter Monacelli. These exhibits are made possible courtesy of MCC’s Visual and Performing Arts department.

Alumni Luncheon and Golf Classic Honoring Betty P. Smith ’82

Date: Friday, August 8
Time: 12 noon arrival, 12:30 pm luncheon and program; 2:15 pm tee-off
Location:  Eagle Vale Golf Club, 4344 Nine Mile Point Road, Fairport, NY
Tickets: Luncheon only tickets $40. Golf and luncheon tickets $100. Tickets include a $25 tax-deductible donation.

Join us for lunch, golf or both as we honor Betty Smith, counselor with the Counseling, International and Veteran Services Department and celebrate her 28 years of service with MCC. This luncheon will provide colleagues, family and friends an opportunity to celebrate Betty’s time-honored career while supporting the Betty P. Smith Scholarship for Returning Adult Students. Following the luncheon, Betty will announce the start of play for a round of golf--modified shot gun start (scramble format)--on the beautiful Eagle Vale Golf Club course. Homecoming Headline Performance

Homecoming Carnival!

Date: Wednesday, September 24
Time: 11 am – 3 pm
Location: Outside the Theatre in Lot F
Tickets: Free of charge for current MCC students with valid ID
Parking: Lots C, D, E

Step right up to the Homecoming Carnival for a fun-filled afternoon for the whole family! Rides! Games! Food! And much more! Alumni, students, faculty and staff, family and friends will delight in the sights, sounds and aromas surrounding the Homecoming Carnival. Be the first to get MCC’s fourth annual rubber duck or carnival T-shirt. Sponsored by the Campus Activities Board and Student Life fee.

Note: The purchase of a carnival ticket entitles the holder to admission to the headline performance.

Alexander Street Campus 50th Reunion History Lecture and MCC Tour

Date: Thursday, September 25
Time: 2 pm Brighton Campus tour, 3 – 4 pm history lecture

Attend a lecture presented by MCC’s Record Management Analyst, Eric Johannisson. MCC opened its doors to 720 students in the former East High School at 410 Alexander Street. Take a look back and revisit MCC’s first campus. Lean how it all began as you take a historical tour of the Alexander Street Campus. Before the lecture, find out what’s new at MCC by taking a guided tour of MCC’s Brighton Campus.

MCC Spirit Day

Date: Friday, September 26
Time: Noon to 1 pm

Wear black and gold and show your MCC spirit at the MCC Faculty vs. Students Basketball Game. Cheer on your favorite faculty members and our student-athletes as they compete on Monagan Court.

Alexander Street Campus 50th Reunion Pub Classics Cooking Class at the NY Wine and Culinary Center

Date: Friday, September 26
Time: 6 - 8 pm
Location: Hands on Kitchen, New York Wine and Culinary Center, 800 South Main Street, Canandaigua, NY
Tickets: $60 per person

MCC’s Alexander Street Campus 50th Reunion celebration takes you to Canandaigua, NY, where members of the Classes of the 60s will get together for a hands-on cooking adventure featuring public house cuisine (pub food). In this class, you’ll prepare delicious pub classics such as hearty stews, rustic tarts, and simple, yet elegant desserts as well as sample featured brews from the area’s award-winning microbreweries.  Maximum 24 participants. RSVP by September 17.

MCC Foundation 8th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Scholarships

Date: Saturday, September 27
Time: Registration 10 am; Race start 11 am
Location: Parking Lot N for pre-event activities and registration
Entry fee: $18 by Sept. 21 / $23 thereafter; special MCC student pricing $10; free for children ages 12 and under
Parking: Lot M

Fun for the entire family!  Support educational excellence and student scholarships on Homecoming morning! The course is a 3.1- mile, USATF-certified, prime scenic course around the Brighton Campus. Tailgate Party and MCC Tribunes Games

Date:  Saturday, September 27
Time:  Lunch served 11:30 am to 3 pm; awards ceremony and scholarship drawing 12:30 pm
Location: Gymnasium, Stabins Physical Education Complex (Bldg. 10)
Tickets: $8 per person
Parking:  Lot G or M

Following the race, join alumni, friends and students for a delicious hot buffet lunch. Awards ceremony and scholarship drawing at 12:30 pm. Stay and cheer on the MCC Tribunes as they face rivals in men’s and women’s soccer on DiMarco Field. Luncheon sponsored by the MCC Association and Sodexo.

Alexander Street Campus 50th Reunion Gala

Date:  Saturday, September 27
Time: Reception 6 pm, dinner and program 7 pm
Location: Monroe A/B, Warshof Conference Center, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Bldg. 3)
Tickets: $40 per person

This signature event for MCC’s Classes of the 60s will bring together alumni, retirees, faculty, staff and administrators. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, chef-attended dinner stations, decadent dessert display and coffee followed by music from the 60s, dancing and reminiscing with MCC alumni and old friends. Wine and beer cash bar. Dressy casual attire. RSVP by September 17.

Alexander Street Campus 50th Reunion Picnic                                                            

Date: Sunday, September 28
Time: 12 noon arrival, 2 pm lunch
Location: Powderhorn Lodge, Powder Mills Park, 154 Park Road, Pittsford, NY
Tickets:   $15 per person

Alexander Street Campus alumni will gather at Powder Mills Park for an afternoon of outdoor fun, barbeque and great conversation. A group photo will be taken (MCC alumni T-shirt suggested). Catered lunch provided by Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Bring a snack or dessert and your own beverages. Download park map. Visit Powder Mills Park website. RSVP by September 17.

Alumni Cooking Demonstration, Tasting and Wine Pairing

Date: Thursday, October 2
Time: 6 to 8 pm
Location: Room 3-140, R. Thomas Flynn Campus Center (Bldg. 3)
Tickets:  $20 per person

Join Chef Gerry Brinkman and Associate Professor and Hospitality Department Chair Michelle Bartell in the kitchen for a relaxed and entertaining cooking demonstration and tasting session—complete with wine pairings presented by in-house expert David Boni! Attendees will discuss various cooking techniques, ingredient selection, plate presentation, nutrition and menu planning. Check back for this year’s menu! Maximum of 25 participants.
