Two volunteer teams, Team Calgary + Team Newfoundland, will join forces to deliver vital medical care in Antigua, Guatemala. Significant barriers to accessing healthcare is a problem that affects so many Guatemalans, but our compassionate, caring, and skilled volunteers are determined to make a life-changing difference for this vulnerable population. During this important week our Calgary team will be performing orthopaedic, plastic, and gynecological surgeries.

I am there as part of a dedicated team of social workers, psychologists, doctors, surgeons, researchers, and program administrators committed to reducing the incidence of intimate partner violence (IPV) and its devastating consequences. Our team, consisting of recognized IPV champions, has led informational sessions, participated in IPV symposiums, authored chapters, and delivered numerous presentations on IPV care, intervention, and prevention locally, nationally, and internationally. I will also be assisting the surgical teams with whatever they need!
