A "Little" Story
Big Brothers Big Sisters serves youth from all backgrounds with one-to-one relationships. A particularly heart wrenching story is that of 11-year-old Little Brother Diego. He was removed from his home due to domestic abuse and his parents' drug use. He was placed with his Grandmother and they were moved to a shelter in El Paso as part of a safety transfer. His parents are not permitted to know where Diego is. Further complicating the situation is Diego's grandmother's fight with terminal cancer. Despite the hardships, Diego is still just a kid who loves to have fun and wanted a Big Brother to play soccer with so he can make his dreams of becoming a pro soccer player come true. Diego's story is one of hundreds our program sees, and we are always looking for ways to help the growing needs of the youth we serve.
