Team Leader - Team Step with Refugees

On June 8, our annual fundraiser STRUT will gather folks at Sunset Beach Park to participate in their boldest expressions of freedom to walk a mile in heels for those who can’t.

Rainbow Foundation of Hope has raised and granted out over $200,000 over five years. Funds are administered by volunteers to Canadian charities from Nanaimo to Halifax.

Year 5 coincides with 50 years of the decriminalization of homosexuality in Canada. STRUT has gone global in 2019 as we partner with the UNHCR in a joint campaign to #STRUT4hope and #stepwithrefugees across the world.

All kilometres walked with be symbolically gifted to the UNHCR’s Two Billion Kilometres to Safety campaign.

Rainbow Foundation of Hope

In over 75 countries Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans* people are still persecuted, often facing violence, and even death, on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity and expression. A refugee’s journey is often a difficult one and they face more challenges when arriving in Canada. Isolation, loneliness, depression, PTSD, are not uncommon and a lot of resources are needed to help with their integration to a new life in Canada.

The funds raised through STRUT allow FOH to continue providing grants to sponsorship groups and charities directly working to support LGBT+ asylum-seekers, refugees & newcomers. Please help me reach my fundraising goal! Just click "Sponsor Me" to donate and make a difference!!

About This Fundraiser

Help us raise $60,000 for LGBT+ refugees. Funds will go towards services that are badly needed to assist LGBTQ people flee from countries where they are persecuted and come to Canada. Furthermore, this money is distributed as grants to frontline community services actively assisting LGBT+ refugees and newcomers to settle and integrate into Canadian life.
