Hey friends and family!

As many of you know, it has been a longstanding tradition of mine to throw my body into the frigid waters of Lake Superior every year in March for the Bayfield Rec Center's Polar Plunge fundraiser. I've loved the rec center since I was a kid (first jumped in that icy water at age 7) and it's great fun to keep supporting them. 

This year, I'm also joining in a simoultaneous fundraising effort to help out my mom and her Bayfield High School spanish students! They are raising funds to go on a cultural exchange and language learning trip to Guatemala this summer in June. They plan to do homestays in a Mayan village, visit heritage cultural sites, and do some cultural exchange with the indigenous mayan tzutujil community in San Juan La Laguna. Many of the Bayfield students are Ojibwe, indigenous to this area of Northern Wisconsin, so it's a rare and special opportunity for them to build relationships on the other side of the world.
