Hi,
The annual East Coast Trail fundraiser is happening on June 7 and I plan to be there. As you know the trail is a tremendous asset to those of us who love to hike in Newfoundland. The upkeep of the boardwalks, steps and bridges is a never ending job requiring a team of paid seasonal workers. The trees just don't stop growing and so they regularly need trimming back by volunteers and workers. Basically it takes a lot of time and money to maintain the trail. We love the trail and learned long ago that we need to take some responsibity for it and so we like to help out on Torbay's Father Troy Trail by digging small drainage channels that get rid of big puddles, cutting back overgrown vegetation and cleaning up the occasional mess. I'm also the custodian of this section of trail (which means I report on its condition). This year the fundraising is happening right here in Torbay so it's extra meaningful for those of us who hike here.
If you would like to financially support the trail please consider it by sponsoring me.
Thanks a million.
Helen
