Two years ago, I took off on the greatest adventure of my life when I began my 4,270km thru hike along the Pacific Crest Trail. Over the course of that journey, I met incredible people, saw unbelievably beautiful places, and learned more about myself than I did in the prior 28 years.

This year I have a new adventure in the works, and this time, instead of making new friends, I am bringing along the OG- my mom!

Beginning on May 10th, my mom and I will be hiking 900km along the Bruce Trail beginning in Niagara and ending in Tobermory. This hike was concieved as a mother/daughter trip to celebrate my 30th birthday, and her 60th birthday, both of which are happening this spring. Our aim is finish the trail by mid June, which means we will be starting strong and pushing hard throughout our hike!
While I was growing up, we spent many a day as a family, exploring the Bruce Peninsula section of the Bruce Trail, and I am so excited to visit the trail again from this new lens. And most of all, I am so excited to share my love of long distance hiking with my mom!

For those of you who don't know, the Bruce Trail is the oldest and longest marked hiking trail in Canada. It follows the edge one of Canada’s irreplaceable natural wonders – the Niagara Escarpment-- and traverses through conservation areas, provincial and national parks, and urban centres. It also provides crucial natural spaces in one of Canada's most populated areas-- making the outdoors just a little more accessible to all of us.

In May, my mom and I will be participating in the Bruce Trail Hike-A-Thon as part of our thru-hike! Funds from the Hike-A-Thon will go to the Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC), which stewards the Bruce Trail and the surrounding land for generations to come. Through a donation to our Hike-A-Thon team, you will not only be encouraging our hike, but also supporting one of Canada's great national treasures and helping to preserve this ribbon of wilderness for future generations to access and enjoy.
