For the first time in over 15 years, we will not be attending Dog Jog but that doesn’t mean TEAM Tripawd isn’t raising money for a great cause in memory of our beloved Tripawds, Bandit and Peggy Sue.

Peggy Sue (RIP 2005 - 2018) joined our family in 2011 after being rescued from a hoarder in Montana Creek. In addition to losing her leg due to the injuries she received at the hands of her abuser, she had PTSD from the 6-7 years of neglect. After her adoption, she also lost an eye to melanoma and her hearing. Through all that, she looked forward to a full food bowl, and spending time in her favorite place on the beach in Seward. Peggy Sue participated in her first Dog Jog in 2011, and was there every year after, including her final year dog jogging in the stroller loaned to us by David Jensen. This annual event gave her a chance to see that life could be fun, and not so scary.

Bandit (RIP 2012 – 2025) was barely a year old when he was picked up by Mat-Su Animal Shelter running around with a bloody and mangled foot. His foot could not be saved, and so they amputated his leg at the shoulder. During his recovery, his foster mom shared his story and picture on Tripawds.com. His striking picture caught our attention, and we learned that he was in Palmer. We were already familiar with tripawds so there was no hesitation to have him join our family. Bandit was very adept at getting around on 3 legs since he became a tripawd at such a young age. He could run, jump, climb and lift his leg like any other dog. He would run like the wind for about 45 minutes, and then it was nap time.
