This May, I am running a 5 km race to raise money for the Start2Finish Run and Read clubs in Guelph. For those who don't know, there are four clubs in Guelph, and over 30 across Canada. The clubs are all in low income areas and work to build physical fitness, increase literacy, provide mentorship and nutrition, and develop positive life skills, all with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty by focusing on elementary school aged children. I've been volunteering with the Willow Rd Club in Guelph since January 2015, and I love it.
If you're able to, please click "Sponsor Me" to make a donation. Your money goes towards things like new shoes, new T-Shirts, and supplies needed to keep Run and Read clubs running. These kids need their new shoes and T-Shirts to participate in the Running and Reading Challenge that takes place annually at the end of May where hundreds of kids gather at York University to compete in a 5 KM race against other schools, and to participate in a Reading Challenge that would tax many adults! It's a great time, and the kids and volunteers love it! So please, donate! And thank you!
