I am reaching out to you today with a heartfelt request for sponsorship as I participate in the Rotary Club Ride for Hearing. This remarkable event aims to raise awareness and support for individuals dealing with hearing loss, an issue that affects a significant number of people in Canada.
Statistics reveal that approximately 10% of Canadians, totaling 3.6 million individuals, experience some form of hearing loss. These numbers emphasize the pressing need for increased resources and assistance in addressing this often overlooked aspect of healthcare.
The Rotary Club of Vancouver’s Ride for Hearing is an annual fundraising event in support of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in British Columbia. Since its inception, we have raised over $3.6 million and have had a major impact on the lives of many children and adults who suffer from hearing loss.
These funds have been used to support Cochlear Implant Research at UBC, to establish the Rotary Hearing Centre at UBC Hospital, and the BC Rotary Hearing and Balance Centre at St. Paul’s Hospital. In addition, grants have been made to BC Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hearing and Speech Centre of BC, The Hearing Foundation of Canada, the BC Family Hearing Resource Centre, the UBC School of Audiology & Speech Sciences, and the Vancouver Hearing Centre to name just a few.
I am sincerely grateful for your consideration and support. Together, we can make a difference and empower individuals with hearing loss to overcome challenges and live life to the fullest.
