We will be participating in a medical relief and education mission trip to Port au Prince, Haiti, with members of Team Saskatoon in February 2019. This trip is partnered through an organization called Broken Earth, and was started in 2011 after the earthquakes.
We will mainly be running othopedic clinics and operating rooms. We will be working out of the main hopsital in Port au Prince, staying on the grounds of the hospital in the accomodations provided for us, and will be working long hours every day to treat as many patients as possible. We will be bringing our own equipment and medication from Canada so we can be as effective as possible.
Scott is looking forward to doing surgeries with three orthopedic surgeons, as well as running orthopedic teaching sessions to local residents. Monica will be working in the PACU recovering our teams post operative patients, and may spend some time working in the ICU. We are both looking forward to making connections down there and continuing this journey when we come back.
Any contribution is greatly appreciated as we are fundraising for our expenses (flights, accommodation, meals, transportation, medical equipment, medication, and financial aide). Click "sponsor us" to make a donation. You will receive a tax receipt for any donation over $20.
We are very excited to experience a medical missions trip together - this is on our bucket list!!
Thank you for all your support & generosity, we love you!
