I will be participating in a medical relief and education mission trip to Port au Prince, Haiti, with members of Team Saskatoon in February of 2019.
I have been asked by a lot of people "why" I wanted to be a member on this mission. I always new I wanted to be in the medical profession, I obtained my nursing degree through the University of Saskatchewan and began my nursing career in 1995. I nursed in various area's from general surgery, neurosurgery, ICU and finally the Operating Room. It was when I was working in the Operating Room that the opportunity to become a medical device sales consultant presented and opened a new direction in my career. I feel that the combined experience in both professions has rounded my knowledge of various facets with the same goal providing the best possible care to patients. Throughout my careet I have had the opportunity of working with many caring and talented health care professionals in a publicly funded health care system. I feel privelaged to have the opportunity to be part of a medical mission that is going into a developing nation to provide care and education. I look forward to sharing with each of you how this mission has impacted my life because I know it will, it has already.
I have created my own fundraising page to collect donations in support of this effort.
