Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you for taking the time to do this! Our experience last year was overpowering, and we are looking forward to going back to Port-au-Prince this coming October 23-30, 2019 - as long as it is safe enough! If not, we’ll find another date...
Those of you who helped out last year know how much this trip means, for the patients we get to treat, as well as for the members of our team. Many, many thanks!...
Team Broken Earth is a non-profit group of volunteer Canadian healthcare professionals that provides medical assistance to Haiti and other underdeveloped countries, where some people wait for months with broken bones and other life-changing injuries. There are several Broken Earth Teams across Canada, including here in Ottawa.
To help raise awareness and funding for the team, I am running again this year in the Feel it in Your Bones 5K Run in May. If you want to contribute to our fundraising efforts, please do so right here! All proceeds from the run will go towards the cost of logistics for team members to participate in the mission. I will be paying my own way, and Geneviève’s as well - as well as volunteering wherever we need her, she will be filming, and creating a documentary of the whole experience! She created the website that chronicles our November 2018 trip: https://brokenearth2018.wixsite.com/public
After a very rewarding experience last year, I am excited to be participating in my second mission with many other physicians, nurses and physiotherapists from across the Ottawa-area hospitals. We will be conducting clinics, surgeries and hands-on training to help improve the local medical expertise in Haiti.
We all feel the pain of injuries sometimes, but are lucky to have access to some of the best healthcare in the world.
Please help me to share this with those less fortunate.
Thank-you,
Philip and Team
