Annual "Walk of Life" Walkathon
The Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR)
hosts an annual “Walk of Life” Walkathon in
Watertown, MA, bringing together families, friends,
and community members to support ABMDR’s lifesaving mission. The event
raises awareness and generates vital funds to sustain the
organization’s donor recruitment, patient matching, and other support services.

Registration & Fundraising

Online Registration: Opens 30–45 days before the
walk. Online registration closes at 3:00 PM the Friday before the
walk.

Day-Of Registration (On-Site): Begins at 10:30 AM
at the starting location
After registering online, participants can:
- Set personal fundraising goals
- Create and customize donation pages
- Send email invitations
- Track progress and manage offline pledges
Participation Options
- Walk as an individual
- Walk with your children
- Create a team with friends or family
- Join in as a virtual walker
T-Shirts & Raffle Entries:
- Register online at least two weeks before the
walk to receive:
- A custom-designed Walkathon T-shirt (for you and your team members)
- A numbered raffle ticket for a chance to win one of 5+ prizes
- T-shirts display the Walkathon logo, event
date, and sponsor names/logos.
Wearing the T-shirt helps show appreciation to our supporters.
- For On-Site registration, the T-shirts are available on a
first-come-first serve basis as supply lasts.
- On-site registration also includes a numbered raffle ticket
Ceremonies & Activities

Opening Ceremony:
- Includes a prayer by attending clergy
o Short remarks by the organizing committee or invited guest speaker

Closing Ceremony:
- Held at the ABMDR booth in Saltonstall Park (may be moved to
the start of the walk at St. James in case of rain)
- Acknowledgments to participants, sponsors, and volunteers

Awards presented to: (categories to change from
year to year)
- Top three individual fundraisers

Raffle drawing for registered participants
Afterward, many participants stay to enjoy Watertown’s Faire
on the Square, which will be in full swing.
Walk Route
The walk proceeds from St. James Armenian Church
down Mt. Auburn Street, through Watertown
Square, crosses to Main Street, and ends at
Saltonstall Park.

- Duration: Approximately 30–45 minutes

Sidewalk-only route for safety
Safety Guidelines
- The Walk takes place entirely on public sidewalks
- Please do not bring scooters, bikes, skateboards,
skates, or pets

Strollers and wheelchairs welcome

Walk Marshals will be present for support and safety
Parking Options
