Hospice of Waterloo Region was founded in 1993 by Lucille Mitchell, a local resident who recognized the need for hospice palliative care services in Waterloo Region. Hospice\u2019s core program is our Volunteer Visiting Program. Individuals living with life-threatening illness are matched one on one with a highly trained hospice volunteer who commits to making weekly visits to the client\u2019s home to provide emotional and practical support.<\/p>\n

Over the past twenty years that we have served the community, we have been able to expand the scope of our services substantially and now provide hospice palliative care and bereavement support to individuals and their families who are affected by a life threatening illness.<\/p>\n
Our mandate from the very beginning is to provide ALL of our services free of charge to the community.<\/p>\n
