Hello.

My name is Kimberly. I have been living with and challenged by an array of mental
health issues for most of my life. More than four and a half decades have since passed and it
has been a long and arduous road. My official diagnosis includes: Bipolar I Disorder,
Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive traits and PTSD. A lot of fancy words to
describe the trials and tribulations that I must manoeuvre through on a daily basis. The
simplest of tasks, taken for granted by most people, can seem like mountains to me. A
rollercoaster of mood swings inhibits my ability to achieve and sustain a balanced lifestyle.

Being placed on the Kingston 4 Paws waiting list is both an honour and a blessing. A service
dog will improve my quality of life and allow me the opportunity to expand my horizons.
Already a breast cancer survivor, I look forward to the day when my new service dog, my
future partner, assists me in becoming a mental health survivor too.
