Miguel is a very sweet
and shy boy who was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder very
recently at the age of 14. Miguel immigrated to Canada with his
mother and younger brother after leaving an abusive home. Adapting
to a new country hasn’t been easy for him. He was heavily bullied in
school by other children he had considered his friends. The
continued bullying and sense of not feeling welcomed, resulted in
Miguel not talking. He spent a full school year without speaking to
anyone to avoid being hurt again. He speaks now with limited
individuals and is still working on trusting people again. Miguel's
biggest dream is to have a loving, non-judgmental friend he can rely
on to help him through his autism challenges and to help him build
relationships with others.
Miguel is a very
talented young man. He plays the piano and learns music by ear. He's
also amazing at drawing and, in a safe environment, loves to tell
jokes. Having a service dog will change his life in so many ways and
give him the confidence and
independence he
desperately deserves! It would mean so much to Miguel and his family
to receive your support.
