Paws for Dominic
Dominic is an affectionate little boy with a great smile and huge
heart. He loves puzzles, books and animals, especially elephants,
dogs and horses. He likes to playing outside with his siblings,
helping out with yard work, looking at books and playing music on his
keyboard or his guitar.
Dominic was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 2013 at the
age of 2. He has severe social anxiety, demands sameness and doesn't
do well with transitions. Although he makes great progress in therapy
every day, he constantly struggles with day to day life. He is
currently non-verbal but we continue to hear little words here and
there that make our hearts melt.
One of our main concerns with Dominic is that he is a runner, meaning
that he can go off un-noticed, putting himself in harms way. This
causes simple things like getting groceries, visiting a park or even
going to see relatives to become extremely challenging and creates
potentially dangerous situations for him.
Dominic being matched with a National Service dog will mean great
things for him and our family. We hope it gives him more independence
and social confidence while keeping him safer. It will mean going on
outings as a family, on hikes and vacations, making things easier for
his whole family.
Thank you for supporting Dominic and his family as they await the
arrival of their National Service Dog.
