Paws for Ava
This is my donor page to support National Service Dogs because I have
been selected to receive a dog in the coming year! Only 15 recipients
are chosen across Canada yearly so I feel very lucky! I don’t have a
lot of dogs in my world which makes this even more exciting and I’m
hoping we can walk together in the park or on the beach, sleep
together and just lean on each other as we develop our friendship. I
don't even know my dog's name yet but I am already so proud that
he/she is a working animal and I’m sure we will love each other! I am
very lucky that my sister also loves dogs, so I think she can teach
me, play with me more and we will have something new in common. Did
you know that there are working dogs for kids with autism? Each dog is
sponsored through a lot of help from volunteers who raise the puppies
for NSD until their advanced training begins at 18 months. From there,
some really special people teach the dogs how to support kids like me!
It is a privilege to get selected when there are so very few dogs that
are trained this way. It is a very exciting time for us all as we
start thinking through a new addition to our family, but with that
addition comes many associated costs. I want to make this transition
as easy for my family as I can and am asking you for your help. Your
donation will go towards the NSD program and helping my young pup
become the service dog of my dreams!
Please support me, my family, my new dog and NSD! Don't just do it
for me, but for every kid out there who can use the support and
companionship of a service dog.
Thank you for all your love and encouragement over the years –
there’s nowhere to go but up!
Thank you for supporting Ava and her
family as they await the arrival of their National Service Dog.
