Memorial Hall, built in 1885 on a shoreland promontory overlooking
Mirror Lake (locally known as #10 Pond) in the heart of North Calais,
has historic, community, and scenic importance. In 2017, the Women's
Relief Corps, owners of the Hall since 1916, recognized the need to
revitalize and protect the Hall and decided the time had come to
transfer ownership in order to keep its historic use as a public space
thriving. An energized group of neighbors then gathered together and
formed a nonprofit, the North Calais Memorial Hall Association. NCMHA
is working to raise funds to restore, reopen, and continue to maintain
this unique property well into the future.
