Hi there! My name is Andrea, and I am incredibly grateful to Kingston 4 Paws for the life-changing work they do. A little bit about me:
I’m currently a paralegal student at Algonquin College, working toward a career where I can support others through advocacy and help people navigate difficult circumstances. My own journey has not been a straight line. Between working and facing ongoing substantial mental health challenges, it took me 10 years to complete my undergraduate degree at Carleton University. It was a long and challenging road, but I stuck with it.
I have always had a special connection with animals, especially dogs. They offer a kind of comfort, understanding, and unconditional love that is hard to put into words. In some of my hardest moments, the presence of a dog has brought me more peace than anything else.
For the past 15 years, I have lived with severe anxiety that can make even ordinary daily tasks feel overwhelming. Things that many people do without a second thought, such as going out alone, navigating crowded public spaces, handling stressful situations, or simply feeling safe and grounded, can become exhausting mental battles.
That is why being partnered with a service dog through Kingston 4 Paws means so much morethan simply having a companion. A service dog would be a constant source of stability, security, and reassurance. They would help me feel safer in public, more independent in my daily life, and less alone in moments of panic or distress. This dog would not just be helping me complete tasks. They would be helping me reclaim confidence, freedom, and peace of mind.
I am so looking forward to the day I have my little angel by my side, a loyal partner to help me face the world with more courage and certainty than I have been able to on my own. Thank you so much for reading my story and for supporting Kingston 4 Paws. The work they do changes lives, and every donation helps them continue making that possible for so many people.
