Hello, I’m Micheline. 

I’m a proud mom of two grown children, four stepchildren, and eight grandchildren. My children and grandchildren bring immense joy to my life. 

I work as an office administrator at a busy elementary school, where the children add light and fun to my day.

Summer days at our family cottage, leisurely bike rides, snowshoeing and spending time with my grandchildren, family and friends are activities that I enjoy. 

However, my days are frequently disrupted by exhaustion or the fear of a seizure. Epilepsy and anxiety have led to the cancellation or avoidance of many social plans. Even simple tasks like shopping or taking a walk alone are stressful.

Anxiety and stress are significant triggers for my seizures, making it a matter of when, not if, a seizure will occur. My mind is constantly on high alert!

Service dogs have been proven to offer companionship and help reduce stress. In the event of a seizure, they can alert for help, provide a sense of security, and offer comfort.

When I discovered Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs (K4Paws) and their life-changing impact, I knew I had to apply.

K4Paws is a registered charity that relies on donations.  They provide trained service dogs to children and adults with autism, physical, neurological or mental health issues to provide them with more independence and confidence.
