“Unprecedented.” “Challenging.” “Uncertain.” I’m sure you’ve heard
these words used many times to describe the COVID-19 pandemic. Today,
some nine months since the virus changed daily life in Canada, I’d
like to share some different words: “Resilience.” “Courage.” “Compassion.”
This is what I’m seeing, day after day, as Delta Hospital staff and
our community cope with the pandemic. From the onset, we have seen an
outpouring of support from businesses and individuals who gave
personal protective equipment (PPE), meals for frontline staff and
charitable donations to our Delta Hospital COVID-19 Response Fund.
This resourcefulness and support have been phenomenal.
But even though COVID-19 is at the forefront of our minds right now,
it doesn’t mean other health crises aren’t happening. People in our
community are still being diagnosed with cancer, or having heart
attacks, strokes and other emergencies. We’re working to ensure all of
our community’s critical needs are met.
Addressing this broad range of needs is at the heart of the wish
list. The equipment on the list will benefit Delta Hospital’s patient
population, now and in the future.
As you’re making your holiday giving plans, I hope you will consider
donating to Delta Hospital. We need your help to continue bringing new
state-of-the-art equipment to Delta Hospital and to continue
increasing and improving services offered to our community.
Sincerely,
Lisa Hoglund
