Graphic designer Flora Gordon will share design tips=0D=0A  that improve the readability of documents to meet the needs of=0D=0A  readers. Participants will explore typography, spacing, and other=0D=0A  design tactics for making text-heavy documents more appealing to=0D=0A  readers. Using a combination of short lectures and a friendly and=0D=0A  constructive live critique with demonstrations, this workshop will=0D=0A  increase participants? understanding and knowledge of design principles.=0D=0A=0D=0AThis webinar is for editors and communication professionals who are=0D=0A  not designers but want to learn more about design. No design=0D=0A  experience is necessary, but participants should have a working=0D=0A  knowledge of MS Word.=0D=0AFormat=0D=0A=0D=0A  Parts 1 to 3: Three 30-minute pre-recorded lectures=0D=0A  and demonstrations to watch between March 6 and 31, 2021. Participants=0D=0A  will then complete and email assignments to Flora Gordon in advance of=0D=0A  Part 4.=0D=0A=0D=0A  Part 4: On April 8, 2021, we?ll hold a live 90-minute=0D=0A  session on Zoom with Flora Gordon. She will look at assignments to=0D=0A  offer suggestions and critiques and will give demonstrations. There=0D=0A  will be lots of opportunity for questions and discussion.=0D=0A=0D=0A  Flora Gordon is a professionally certified graphic=0D=0A  designer with over 12 years of professional experience designing for=0D=0A  the public sector. She has also worked in magazine and technical=0D=0A  publishing. Flora created the course Plain Graphics and Design for=0D=0A  Simon Fraser University (SFU), and she facilitates other courses in=0D=0A  the Editing and Technical Publishing certificate programs at SFU.=0D=0A  Flora has presented at the Editors Canada conferences in 2016 and 2018.=0D=0A
