DESCRIPTION:\n  \n    The Offshore Personal Survival Course (OPSC) is\n      a two day course for experienced sailors who are participating in\n      offshore and oceanic events and passages\, typically as described\n        in World\n        Sailing Offshore Special Regulations categories 0-1-2. In\n      British Columbia\, this includes events such as the Van Isle 360\n      and the Vic-Maui International Yacht Race. Internationally\, this\n      includes events such as Pacific NW Offshore\, Transpac\, Pacific\n      Cup\, Newport to Bermuda\, Sydney Hobart\, Fastnet\, and the Atlantic\n      Rally for Cruisers (ARC). \n    The course includes classroom and practical sessions\; indoor\,\n      outdoor\, and at pool facilities. Topics covered include personal\n      safety equipment\, crew overboard\, emergency communications &amp\;\n      signals\, search &amp\; rescue\, weather forecasts\, heavy weather\n      &amp\; storm sails\, damage control &amp\; fire\, hypothermia &amp\;\n      cold water immersion. Practical\, hands-on sessions include using\n      lifejackets and life rafts in-the-water\; damage control\; emergency signals.\n    The Offshore Personal Survival Course is offered\n      by BC Sailing in conjunction with local yacht clubs and\n      facilities.
