As AI tools become more integrated into daily life,=0D=0A they are reshaping how people experience connection, support, and=0D=0A care. This workshop explores how AI systems are designed to engage=0D=0A users, why that engagement can feel deeply personal, and what it=0D=0A means for therapeutic practice. Grounding our discussion in=0D=0A attachment theory, we will unpack the complexity of AI in practice,=0D=0A including links to addiction, risks, and ethical considerations. We=0D=0A will review tools and services that are used in clinical practice=0D=0A like AI booking systems and session transcription and summary=0D=0A services and explore their risks and benefits. Participants will=0D=0A leave this workshop with a deeper understanding of how to approach=0D=0A AI use in a thoughtful, client-centered way, while gaining practical=0D=0A tools for supporting clients.=0D=0A=0D=0ALearning Outcomes:=0D=0A=0D=0A Explain key aspects of mental functioning that contribute to=0D=0A vulnerability in digital interactions=0D=0A Demonstrate the ability to assess the appropriateness of AI tools=0D=0A in clinical and practice settings=0D=0A Identify strategies AI systems use to influence users and draw=0D=0A connections to patterns of dependency=0D=0A=0D=0APresenter Bio:=0D=0A=0D=0A Lawrence Murphy is the co-founder of Worldwide=0D=0A Therapy Online, the world?s first online clinical practice,=0D=0A established in 1994.
