DESCRIPTION:\n  \n  Tuesday\, December 2nd\, 2025\n\n\n  12:00 to 1:00 p.m. ET | Online\n\n\n  \n     Presented by Toula Kourgiantakis\, t.s.\, Ph.D.\, RSW  \n    \n  \n\n\n  \n  Description:\n\n\n  This webinar presents findings from a\n    qualitative study exploring bereaved parents’ perspectives on\n    Ontario’s systems of care that engaged with a young person in\n      their lives who died by suicide. Participants will gain\n    insights into systemic strengths\, gaps\, and barriers in youth mental\n    health\, addiction\, and suicide prevention services. The session will\n    also focus on how to identify and respond to youth in distress\,\n    provide compassionate care\, elicit hope\, and support parents and\n    caregivers. The content is relevant for social workers in any\n    context who wish to strengthen their practice with youth and\n    families affected by mental health and addiction concerns\, as well\n    as suicide.\n  \n   \n\n\nPresenter Bio:\n\n  Dr. Toula Kourgiantakis is an\n    Associate Professor in Social Work at Université Laval and Director\n    of the PhD program. Her research focuses on youth mental health and\n    addictions\, suicide prevention\, family involvement in treatment\, and\n    strengthening social work practice. She currently leads several\n    projects on youth suicide prevention\, including a SSHRC-funded study\n    on suicide risk assessment in emergency departments and a Fonds de\n    recherche du Québec funded study on the trajectories of girls aged\n    12–17 who have attempted suicide.
