DESCRIPTION:\n  \n    Working with Self-Publishing Authors \n  \n\nwith \n    Merielle Kazakoff\n    \n  \n\nWhen: Saturday\, April 15\, 2023\, 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm PDT\nWhere: Online via Zoom\nWorking with self-publishing authors is a unique and often gratifying\n  experience for editors. But if these do-it-yourself writers need extra\n  support on their publishing journey\, being “just” an editor is not\n  always enough to help them. Merielle Kazakoff will share how she found\n  her way into the self-publishing field\, how she has adapted to the\n  needs of her clients\, and why she loves working in this fast-growing\n  book market. You’ll also learn:\n\n  the role of an editor in self-publishing\,\n  what you need to know beyond editing\,\n  how to help authors past the editing stage\,\n  the different publishing options for authors\, and\n  the different paths editors can take with self-publishing.\n\nIf you like diversity in your work and are open to learning something\n  new\, then self-publishing is a great world to be in!\n\n  Merielle Kazakoff strongly advocates for all\n  storytellers as a freelance editor and a writing and publishing coach.\n  With her diverse writing and publishing background\, she enjoys the\n  creative freedom and different challenges that come with each writer\n  she works alongside. Through a regional literacy group\, she teaches\n  Writing Out Loud workshops based on freewriting and is a volunteer\n  tutor in Newcomers’ English classes. Throughout the year\, she’s a\n  story judge for NYC Midnight\, an international short-story challenge\n  based out of New York. When not working with words\, she’s exploring\n  nature on her paddleboard or out with her camera taking photos to\n  share in her local art gallery.\n\n  \n  Seminar\n  Recording Notice:\n  Editors BC will be recording these sessions using Zoom’s\n  record feature. The data captured may include your image (including\n  your name if it appears in your video image) and voice recordings. The\n  Zoom recordings will be made available to registered seminar\n  participants for a period of four weeks following the session.
