INSIGHTS AND PRACTICAL APPROACHES TO AUDITING CHANGE MANAGEMENT FOR INTERNAL AUDITORS
 Description

SESSION OVERVIEW

Financial institutions and other large organizations are constantly making changes, driven by the need to increase efficiencies, leverage new technologies, and meet regulatory requirements.  Despite improvements in the project management discipline over the last 15-20 years, many companies still struggle with initiatives that not only fail to achieve their objective, but are also disruptive to current operations.

Many of the reasons these initiatives (whether focused projects or organizational wide change) fail to achieve full benefits are people related. With increased awareness of people issues over the last 10 or more years, change management has risen significantly in importance.  The challenge for internal auditors is how they should think of and approach change management, and what should they look for in an effective system of controls.

This session will help you to:

  • Identify the different types of changes that occur in an organization and what is driving them
  • Recognize when the appropriate change management framework is being used
  • Understand how to approach change management from an audit perspective
