Series Description
Are you feeling stretched, uncertain, or a little lost as you look to
start your social work career? You’re not alone. Every one of us must
find the path from starting out to a thriving career. This series will
help you do just that. Join us for a space to pause, learn and reflect
for three live coaching sessions created just for social work
students. Each session blends reflection, guided prompts, and
real-time coaching questions. You’ll leave with new insight...and a
little more confidence to face what’s next.
Presenter
Raechel Pefanis, BA, MDiv, MSW, RSW, PCC, is a
Registered Social Worker, International Coaching Federation–certified
coach, and the Principal of Red Maple Coaching & Consulting in
Waterloo, Ontario. A proud Indigenous woman from the Turtle Clan,
Raechel has spent more than 25 years working across a wide range of
therapeutic and coaching approaches, including CBT, DBT, Internal
Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, Psychedelic-Assisted
Therapy, and more.
In addition to her private practice, Raechel has been mentoring and
supervising new professionals for over a decade, with a passion for
helping emerging clinicians build confidence, resilience, and
authentic presence in their work. She teaches and directs coach
education programs, and is committed to bridging the gap between
clinical training and the realities of practice in diverse workplaces.
Raechel understands what it’s like to start out in the helping
professions - balancing high standards with self-doubt, wanting to do
meaningful work while also protecting your own well-being. Her
coaching style is practical, supportive, and infused with humor and
humanity, making her a trusted guide for students and new graduates
navigating their early professional journeys.
When she’s not working with clients or teaching, you can find Raechel
paddle boarding, hiking with her dogs Frankie and Lola, or searching
for the world’s best cup of coffee.
If you require ASL or French interpretation, please email Jenna jenna@oasw.org. Note that
incorporation of interpreters will depend on availability.
