Introduction to Comic Book Editing When: Wednesday, September 17, 7:00 to 8:00 pm PDT Where: Online through Zoom
Cost: Editors Canada members, free; non-members, $10; student non-members, $5 Freelance opportunities for comic book editors have spiked in recent years, both with publishers and independent creators. And even though it's a specialized field of editing, thanks to this introductory session, you'll be one step closer to understanding the charm and challenges of comics as a medium. Through samples showing simple to more complex errors, as well as comparisons of pre- and post-edited images and pages, you'll develop an appreciation for the skills required of a comic editor—something you may be able to bring to a project in the future. Over the past 38 years, Steve Colle's experience in the comic industry has consisted of retail, editorial, marketing, and—most passionately—teaching, with his focus on quality and audience appeal bringing dozens of projects to fruition. In 2018, Steve founded the Comic Book Editors Alliance, a private Facebook group dedicated to the professional development of its members, instilling pride and integrity in comic book editing.
