Event DescriptionDinner will be provided from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m., allowing time for attendees to eat and network with other social workers and professionals from the Niagara Region. 6:15-7:30 Dr. Danielle Sirianni Molnar will delve into the psychological roots of perfectionism, exploring how it often begins as a protective strategy but can quickly take a toll on mental health, physical health, relationships, and productivity. She sheds light on how perfectionism manifests among professionals, contributing to burnout, imposter syndrome, and harsh self-criticism, challenges that many social workers and helping professionals face. Drawing on decades of research and real-world experience, Dr. Molnar offers evidence-based tools to cultivate self-compassion, enhance motivation, and create a healthier balance in daily life. Through warmth and clarity, she combines scientific insights with personal stories to help audiences rethink their definitions of success and develop resilience. This presentation is designed to empower social workers with practical strategies to support their own well-being and that of the clients they serve, fostering sustainable growth and healthier perspectives in a demanding and achievement-oriented world. Biography of Presenter:Dr. Danielle Sirianni Molnar holds a Ph.D. in psychology and is a Canada Research Chair in Adjustment and Well-Being in Children and Youth. She is also an award-winning Professor of Child and Youth Studies at Brock University and an Associate Professor (status only) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto. For more than twenty years, Dr. Molnar has dedicated her career to understanding the hidden costs of perfectionism, including its impact on mental and physical health, productivity, relationships, and everyday functioning. Her work also explores how perfectionism develops, how it manifests across diverse populations, and how it uniquely affects young people as they form their identities, respond to pressure, and seek belonging. Her groundbreaking work has made important contributions to both theory and practice. She has published extensively in leading academic journals, co-edited three books, and her research has been featured across national and international media Cancellation Policy
