The Youth CANSail 5/6 Program is designed for advanced sailors looking to refine their racing techniques and improve their overall sailing performance. Taught in C420s, this program focuses on advanced boat handling, racing strategies, and teamwork. Participants will have the opportunity to develop their skills in a double-handed boat, enhancing their ability to work with a teammate while fine-tuning their sailing technique.

This spring, give your child the opportunity to learn how to sail outside of summer camp! Designed for ages 11-15, this program teaches the fundamentals of sailing while covering the CANSail 1/2 curriculum.

Participants will gain skills in boat handling, safety, navigation, and teamwork, all in a fun and supportive environment led by certified instructors. Perfect for beginners or those looking to build their sailing foundation!

Fall Race Team

Ages: 10+ for Optis and 12+ for Laser/420

Price: $600 for Optis and $650 for Laser/420

Prerequisite: CANSail 2 for Optis and 420s, CANSail 3 for Lasers

Schedule:

Tuesday September 8th until Tuesday November 10th

Practices:
Tuesdays: 4:30pm-7:30pm
Sundays: 12:00pm-4:00pm (excluding thanksgiving, October 11th)

Regattas:

Fall Dinghies at Royal Victoria Yacht Club (September 26/27)*
Pumpkin Bowl at West Vancouver Yacht Club (October 24/25)*
Bluenose at Kitsilano Yacht Club (November 7/8)

*select regattas for returning senior race team members only

Designed for young sailors ready to start compete, this program focuses on developing racing skills, advanced techniques, and strategies. Participants will train in double handed c420 dinghies, solo Lasers/Optis and gain experience through practice sessions and local regattas.

Perfect for sailors looking to sharpen their skills or embrace the excitement of competitive sailing!

What to bring

• Closed toed shoes that can get wet are mandatory (no sandals or flip-flops)
• Appropriate, layered clothing for the weather
• Change of clothes and towel
• Lunch and snacks
• Water bottle
• Sunscreen
• Optional: personal PFD/lifejacket if preferred (PFDs will be supplied)

We strongly encourage participants to leave non-essential electonics (such as iPads) at home!
