Pre-Ivey Workshops will be offered virtually on August 15th, August 31 and September 1st. These workshops are available in both Excel, and Accounting. These workshops are not a requirement for incoming HBA students, but rather an option for those who feel they will be better prepared for the HBA1 year with a quantitative skill refresher. The material presented in each of these courses will not be taught in your HBA1 courses, rather they are meant to give you the knowledge base that is required to take accounting and excel concepts to the next level of learning.

ONLINE COURSE OPTIONS:

Accounting Refresher (Half Day)

Offered: (Pick ONE Day Only)

Saturday August 15, OR Tuesday September 1st:  9am to 12 pm EST

This one-day workshop will refresh your knowledge of the financial accounting skills learned during your BUS2257 course including a review of the accounting basics through to building the financial statements. The expectation in HBA1 is that you have sound knowledge of financial statement assembly and analysis. **Please note – the Accounting Refresher course will only be open and offered to those students who had a BUS 2257 mark of 80% or lower. If you had over 80% in BUS 2257 and register in the course, you will be removed from it. This course is strongly recommended for those students who received less than 80% in BUS 2257.**

Cost for the half day accounting course is $65.00 + HST.  

Introduction to Modeling for Business Decisions in Excel (Full Day)

 Saturday August 15th, Monday August 31, or Tuesday September 1:  8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST

Open to all students.

For students who are new to performing business analysis in Excel, or for those who have a difficult time completing the pre-Ivey Excel notes on their own, we recommend the Introduction to Excel for Business Modelling Pre-Ivey workshop. This one-day workshop will provide hands-on help in understanding and fully taking advantage of the skills covered in the pre-Ivey Excel notes. 

During the workshop, instructors will be able to provide one on one help in pre-Ivey Excel note problems and provide insight into when you might see similar problems applied in the Ivey classroom. The workshop will demonstrate the advantages of separating inputs from the calculations, model implementation strategies to prevent calculation errors, methods for performing sensitivity analysis, and Excel tools for visualizing model results. In addition, advanced logical functions for summarizing data will be covered.

Note: Please register for only ONE of the dates.

Cost for the full day excel course is $130.00 + HST.
