About the Speakers:
TERRY SMALL
Terry Small, B.Ed., M.A., is a master teacher and Canada's leading
learning skills specialist. He is the author of the Brain Bulletin
with over 34,000 subscribers worldwide.
Terry has presented on the brain for over 33 years to organizations
around the world. His knowledge, warmth, humour and dynamic
presentation style have made him a much sought-after speaker at
workshops and conferences. Terry often appears on TV, radio, and in
the press. He has presented his ideas to over 301,000 people in 23
countries on 5 continents.
His clients include IBM, TEDx, Ford, IMD, JTI, UBS, Hitachi, Bayer,
Bosch, CRA, RCMP, Telus, and many schools and universities. His
presentations are engaging, humorous, practical, and all based on the
latest brain research and applied neuroscience. Terry resides in
Vancouver, where he is a frequent lecturer at Simon Fraser University
and the University of British Columbia.
PAT HOWARD
Pat Howard is a Senior Manager Internal Audit at BC Hydro,
District Representative Western Canada Institute of Internal
Auditors, and Governor of the Vancouver Chapter.
Pat has been involved with the Institute of Internal Auditors
since 1985. She has held many leadership roles including
President of the Vancouver Chapter (2018 – 2020) and member of
the IIA Canada Nominating Committee (2019 – 2020). Pat is a
seasoned risk management, controls, and governance
professional with over 30 years of internal and external audit
experience in public and private sector industries.

Richard Arthurs
Richard is a Partner and MNP’s National Internal Audit Leader, based
Calgary. Prior to joining MNP, Richard served as the Director of
Internal Audit and Risk Management leader for General Mills Inc. in
Minneapolis, USA. Most recently, he was Chief Audit Executive and Vice
President of Risk Management and Compliance for AltaLink, A Berkshire
Hathaway Energy Company. Richard is Past Chair of The IIA Canada
Board, and was an active IIA member with the Minneapolis/Saint Paul,
Twin Cities Chapter in the US from 2002 until 2012. Richard has 30
years of professional experience. He is a Chartered Professional
Accountant (CPA), qualifying as a Certified Management Accountant
(CMA) in 2003, and holds the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA),
Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certification in Risk Management
Assurance (CRMA) designations. He was the first Canadian to receive
the Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership (QIAL) designation. In
2021, Richard was the recipient of The IIA Canada Arthur Child Award
for Distinguished Service to the IA profession, and he was also
awarded a Fellow of the CPA Profession by CPA Alberta.
