The transition to digital is challenging. Come learn how Municipal Affairs identified a 3 year strategic plan for moving to digital recordkeeping practices. Our facilitator will identify the important elements of the plan including program governance, staffing, process improvements, tools modernization, strengthening partnerships, system implementation, along with communications and marketing.
Presenter: Akif Ghani
Information Management (IM) professional with over 14 years of experience in both the public and private sectors.
A graduate of Algonquin College’s Archives and Records Management Program, Akif developed the IM Program for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) from the ground up.
As a consultant, he has had the opportunity to work for over 20 organizations, leading and managing various projects including; information governance and planning, strategic vision and direction, program audits, policy and standards development, classification structure design and implementation, delivery of IM training and awareness sessions, retention schedule development, advice and guidance, and system implementation.
Akif has worked for CONDAR Consulting, the Bank of Canada, Health Canada, the Department of Justice, CATSA, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation, the Canadian Labour Congress, the Canadian Judicial Council, and several other organizations.
Currently, Akif is the Senior Records Officer and Manager of Information and Records Management for the ministry of Municipal Affairs within the government of Alberta. He has recently developed a 3-year Strategic Plan which aims to strengthen the ministry’s IM program and lead it into the digital future.
