Session Description:

In today’s day and age, emerging technology has outpaced and broken all previous records set for exponential technology growth and adaptability. Today, new and emerging  technology is being embraced at an ever rapid pace and everyone is jumping on to this new bandwagon,  whether it be driven by Crypto, Blockchain, AI, IoT, RPA or any of other dozen technologies that are rapidly emerging and outpacing themselves. Meanwhile, cyber threats are very real and cyber warfare is becoming ever more intense. With all the new toys at our disposal we must not throw caution to the air and forget about important stuff like security, privacy, confidentiality, availability and such. In this half day session, Behram will discuss a number of emerging technologies and what is required from a digital assurance perspective to safeguard these technologies.

Speakers Bio:

Behram Faroogh is a retired partner from PwC Canada, where he most recently led their ERP and Emerging Tech Practice across the country. He teaches MIS at the University of Toronto, serves on the board of Directors for ISACA Toronto and supports CPA Canada with various technology conference initiatives. A chartered accountant by profession, with over 30 years of experience that spans from the shop floor to the Board room.

Parastoo Kaviani is an experienced data wrangler, helping clients with statistical data analysis and assurance. She is adept at extracting and highlighting data patterns which is a key ingredient for forensic investigation and digital assurance.  Parastoo has international work experience and has observed the various trends of digital risk and assurance inherent within existing technologies and   enjoys riding the emerging tech roller coaster, with an eye towards integrating control and assurance into each of the new technology in question. In her spare time, Parastoo enjoys teaching and mentoring others in her team on various technology and career-related topics.
