Cybersecurity Considerations for Quantum Computing - In-person Session followed by a Networking Reception
 Description

This Session will be followed by a networking reception at 6:30 pm

Session Description:

Quantum computing is already disrupting many industries much sooner than later will destroy current data protection and encryption protocols. It is proven capable of breaking current public-key cryptography (PKC) systems such as RSA, Diffie-Hellman etc..  So how close is Quantum Day (Q-Day), and how do we prepare for quantum hacking?

Learn from the forward -thinking global cyber security experts.

Panelists:

Jason Green, Partner, Cybersecurity - EY Canada

Jason works across industry providing cybersecurity advisory support to leadership teams, boards and committees, and guidance to broad security functions. He currently leads EY’s cyber activities in the Energy sector which includes engaging in discussions around post quantum controls to protect critical national infrastructure.  He also governs our national incident response services and cyber simulation activities. He's been with EY since 2020 and has been focussing on information protection for 30+ years.

Blair Canavan, Director, Alliances - Thales

Blair has 30+ years of IT cybersecurity sales, channel, marketing and business development experience starting as Symantec’s 1st Canadian employee.  Blair continuously expanded his cybersecurity and cryptographic expertise with several start-ups including Chrysalis-ITS (Thales), InfoSec Global, Crypto4A and since September 2019, is happily back with his data protection colleagues within Thales’ Global Technology Alliances team, including the Quantum cryptography portfolio.

Andrew Cheung, President & CEO - 01 Communique Laboratory Inc.

Andrew is CEO of 01 Communique and IronCAP.. He holds a B.Sc. (Hon) degree in Computer Science and over 25 years' experience in communications, mobile, and cyber security solutions development, and an early adopter of quantum and the threat to current encryption.

Andrew's interest in post-quantum cybersecurity drove him to full time research some 7 years ago long before the Quantum threat was discussed - this led to  the birth of IronCAP the world's first proven commercially available quantum-safe data encryption.

Moderator:

Carlos Chalico, Cybersecurity and Privacy Leader - EY Canada

Carlos started his career with EY in 1996, he has helped organizations in Canada, US, the Caribbean, and Latin America deal with complicated cybersecurity and privacy matters.  In addition to helping EY build a better working world, Carlos is also an instructor with the University of Toronto School of Continuing studies where he teaches cybersecurity.

He is also a volunteer for ISACA (where he acts as the Secretary for the Toronto chapter), ALPFA, and the IAPP. Carlos holds different professional designations, including many from ISACA and some from other professional associations.
