Reel Fishing - Juvenile Sturgeon Conservation workshop
This engaging juvenile sturgeon conservation workshop provides participants with hands on experience learning more about conservation concerns related to North Americas largest freshwater species, white sturgeon. While having the opportunity to catch, land, record and release these fish in partnership with the Fraser Valley Angling Guides Association FVAGA.
This unique and engaging conservation workshop aims to connect the general public to sturgeon conservation and the Heart of the Fraser issue in an exciting, educational and engaging manner.
On day 1 of the workshop participants meet at a sturgeon rearing habitat along the lower Fraser River such as Strawberry Island. Here, we have access to the Bert Brink Wildlife Management Area. We will be engaging in a nature walk and talk with experts in the field of sturgeon conservation such as Dr. Rosenau and others others. This walk is then followed up with a short film introduction to 'The Heart of the Fraser'. The first day of the workshop will take about 2.5 to 3 hours and is completely outdoors.

Here you will take part in a full day (8-9hr) juvenile sturgeon tagging session with professional guides from the FVAGA where you will assist in catching, recording and releasing juvenile sturgeon.
- The workshop will take place rain or shine, however, extreme winter conditions (snow or ice) may affect the workshop. If the BCWF has to cancel the workshop due to extreme winter weather conditions 100% of the registration fee will be returned to the participant, or the participant may choose to attend a future workshop.
