March 15th Fishing in Later Years Webinar Series
 Description

When: March 15th, 2020, 1:00-3:00 pm

Where: Hosted virtually over Zoom

Cost: Free with registration

BCWF’s Fish Habitat Restoration and Education Program is happy to offer our very first webinar series for our 65+ community: Fishing in British Columbia presented by Mike Gass and Jessica Yarwood (FFSBC).  This webinar is part of a series that will feature live presentations from experienced anglers and outdoor enthusiasts about outdoor activities that can still be accessed safely during Covid-19.

Guest Speakers:

  • Mike Gass is the Manager of Sport Fishing Development for the Freshwater Fisheries Society (FFSBC) of BC, working in the Sportfishing division of the Society for 15 years managing the Society Outreach initiatives and improving access to recreational fishing. Mike has a Bachelor of Science with a major in Biology, and is passionate about the outdoors including camping, hiking, and fishing.  Born and raised in the Fraser Valley, Mike has been fishing throughout BC for over 30 years.
  • Jessica Yarwood is the Outreach Coordinator for the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC (FFSBC) and has worked for the Society in both outreach and marketing for over 10 years. As the Outreach Coordinator, Jessica is responsible for the planning of both the Learn to Fish program as well as the Rod Loan program provincially. On the weekends you will find Jessica camping or skiing with her family and their new chocolate lab puppy Nutella.

Mike and Jessica will be speaking about the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC, including the Trout hatchery and stocking system, accessible fishing areas, and navigating fishing opportunities during Covid-19.

As we cannot hold in-person events during this time, Fishing in Later Years webinars will show participants valuable skills that can be used in a variety of outdoor activities and everyone who joins will have the opportunity to interact with BCWF staff and our guest speakers for an hour of knowledge sharing.

If you have any additional questions, please contact fish@bcwf.bc.ca
