Description | ||||||||||||||||
Saturday, March 26, 2022 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
This new and exciting BCWF 4-hour women’s
workshop will help participants establish basic critical outdoor
safety and navigation skills for being in the outdoors! This workshop
will take place at the beautiful Malcolm Knapp Research Forest in
Maple Ridge, BC and will include some lecture and hands-on exercises
to put skills into practice.
The first half of the workshop is in lecture format and will focus on basic outdoor safety (assessing, trip plan, the essentials, gear, and a day pack demo/display). The second half of the workshop is an introduction to basic map and compass navigation; this includes map reading, the parts and pieces of a compass and how to use both. Participants will then put these newly learned skills into practice with group exercises in a safe, professionally monitored outdoor space! Participants must be 19 years of age or older.
