CANSail 1/2

The multi-session program is designed for adults ages 18 and up. It is designed for individuals with little or no sailing experience. Participants learn to sail using the 420 dinghy. Sailors who successfully complete the program receive Sail Canada’s CANSail 1 and 2 certification, which is required for club dinghy membership and boat usage.

Topics to be covered include knots, points of sail, capsizing, basic helm skills, terminology and much more. With lots of on-the-water practice this course is an exceptional introduction to the sport of sailing.

Spring:

June 7th – June 30th | Wednesdays and Fridays | 5pm to 8pm

Summer:

A) July 5th – July 28th | Wednesdays and Fridays | 5pm to 8pm

B) July 22nd - August 26th | Saturdays | 1pm to 5pm

Fall: 

A) Sept 11 - Sept 29 | Mondays Wednesdays Fridays | 4pm to 7pm

B) Sept 14 - Oct 7 | Saturdays 12pm - 4pm | Thursdays 4pm to 7pm

Discover Sailing

Discover sailing at RPSA! This single-day group sailing lesson is perfect for individuals ages 18+ who would like to see what sailing is all about.

Participants will learn basic sailing terminology, as well as some introductory helm skills including steering and adjusting sails. Lessons will be run using C420 dinghies; 2-person training dinghies which are designed for developing and refining beginner sailing skills.

Summer:

Saturday July 15th | 1pm to 5pm

Sunday August 20th | 1pm to 5pm

What to bring

• Closed toed shoes that can get wet are mandatory (no sandals or flip-flops)
• Appropriate, layered clothing for the weather
• Change of clothes and towel
• Water bottle
• Sunscreen
• PFD
