How do I restrict access to my survey, test or ballot?

Restrict access to invited participants with their full name, username, & password (plus ID number if applicable). Automated authentication is useful if you wish to have the system:

  • Authenticate voters before allowing them to vote.
  • Authenticate students before completing an online test.
  • Authenticate members before completing a member survey.

How do I restrict access to invited survey/test/ballot participants only?

  1. From the Setup menu of the Tests & Surveys service, click Manage
  2. Click Edit beside the name of the survey or test to be modified, and make your changes.
  3. On the Setup page, select "Allow Select List" for Restrictions.
  4. Type the following details (separated by a comma) for each participant on a separate line:
    Name, Username, Password, Optional-ID-Number
    • For example:
      John Smith, john@smith.com, pass123, 458125
      Jane Doe, jdoe, 8secret76,
    • For each participant, you must type at least the name, username & password. The ID Number is optional.
    • Usernames and passwords must be unique.
    • Type the details for each participant on a separate line. For example, if you have 40 voters, you should have 40 lines, each line containing the name, username & password of each voter.
    • To keep the votes anonymous, just use their member ID or Username as their "name" in the system. For example, for Mickey Mouse you can input the following information for the voter list:
Name Username Password ID Number (optional)
      ID412587*     mickey@disney.com    ID412587 ---
      ID412587* mickey@disney.com password123 ---
      ID412587* ID412587 password123 ---
      ID412587* ID412587 ID412587 ---
*In each of these cases, the reports will show "ID412587" as the name of the voter.
    • How do I ensure one vote per person?
  5. Click Check to ensure that your restricted list is correctly formatted. Make any corrections as identified.
  6. Click Update & Next to temporarily save your changes as you navigate from one page to the next.
  7. Click Save & Finish once you have completed all your changes.
