In 2016, Team Broken Earth Barrie conducted its first medical mission to Haiti. The team has returned on two other occassions in 2017 and 2018. You can view our past missions and follow future missions on our FB page ( https://www.facebook.com/tbe.barrie.5) There is still much work to do with our friends in Haiti and no fewer than 14 teams will travel there over the next year.
In 2018, Broken Earth expanded their mission work to include two missions to Guatemala. Teams Calgary and Vancouver have completed missions there in partnership with Partner for Surgery (partnerforsurgery.org). In April, 2019, Team Barrie completed our first mission to Guatemala City with a 24 member surgical team to continue the work started by our western teammates. Over the course of 6 days we conducted clinics and performed dozens of life changing surgeries. A major challenge with this mission was securing the supplies and equipment that are required to conduct surgeries.
Team Barrie will be returning to Guatemala in May 2020. We will face a similar challenge in gathering equipment to make a mission a success.
