I will be participating in my second medical relief and education mission trip to Port au Prince, Haiti, with members of Team Broken Earth London Spine Surgery Team October 2019.
I have created my own fundraising page to collect donations in support of this effort. Money raised through this page goes to help purchase all of the supplies that our team will require to perform surgeries, pay for our patient's hospital stay, any medications they will need, all dressing supplies, and rehab that they will require. Last year the money raised assisted with this as well as paying for MRI scans and a specialized wheelchair.
It was a real eye opener to see what a hospital is like in a third world country and how they function with limited supplies. We also were able to take some basic surgical supplies that the hospital was in need of.
This year we are planning on travelling to Haiti October 1-7th.
