In November, Carlos and I will be participating in a second medical relief and education trip with Team Broken Earth Ottawa. 

First and foremost, we would like to extend many thanks to all that helped us make our 2023 trip a success!

Our missions are funded entirely by your donations. Your contributions pay for everything we offer to the patients, including but not limited to what is listed below:

* Sugical equipment, instrumentation and implants

* Intraoperative and postoperative medication

* Hospitalization and Perioperative costs

* Flight and Accomodation costs for the team

Team Broken Earth is a volunteer powered medical charity.  We are nurses, doctors and various specialized healthcare professionals from around the world who join together for the duration of one week. During our mission we offer critical health services to people in need. Our goal is to deliver medical care to these patients while collaborating with local Health Care Professionals to share experience, knowledge and foster relationships that enrich all parties involved.

In 2023 the opportunity arose for us to help those in need and we were more than obliged to participate in this humanatarian effort.

Through the 2023 experience, a passion has developped for us both in providing medical services to underserved populations. 

The 2023 TBE Ottawa mission was the first team from our organization to travel to San Juan, Dominican Republic. We were successful in doing 25 orthopedic surgeries. Surgeries included fractures to other life-threatening injuries to a population that didn't have access to medical care.

In November 2024 we will be returning with another surgical team to San Juan.  This year a plastic surgery collaboration will be joining our team and performing interventions for cleft lips and palates. We are also hoping to do twice as many surgeries as last year after what we learned about the processes and facilities from our last trip.
